ACCOMMODATION:

1. Rental Prices in Calgary and Edmonton

The average rental charges are quite similar in both the cities. Let’s see the cost of Calgary and Edmonton apartments rentals.

Two Bedroom Apartments:

For a two bedroom apartment, expect to pay from $800 to $2,000 per month, depending on size, type and location of an apartment.

Like, you can expect to pay an average of about $1,500 for two bedroom furnished apartments in Calgary.

2. Other Related Aspects

The common rule to rent an apartment in these cities is to pay a security/ damage deposit of one month’s rent. You can expect to pay a little higher deposit, if the property is furnished.

Most of the rental properties available here are unfurnished and include carpets, essential kitchen appliances, window coverings and heating.

The typical appliances that you may find in almost every unfurnished apartment are: furnace, dishwasher, waste disposal, washer/ dryer, microwave, stove/ oven, fridge, central vacuum and air conditioning system.

3. Facilities and Fees - Accommodation

In Apartments:

Generally, the lease for an apartment here is for a year and generally includes a stove, fridge, window coverings and dishwasher.

Apartments provide shared onsite laundry facilities like laundry rooms and may include heat and hot water in the rental fee. Parking charges are usually included in the monthly rent.

Apartments may also offer some extra facilities such as a swimming pool, gym, and hot tubs.

You may also be able to rent extra storage space for a monthly fee.

Some apartments also permit small furry friends and may charge a little non-refundable pet fee for that.

In Condos:

In condos, your rent normally covers the cost of water, insurance, heating, security, maintenance, garbage disposal, snow removal and landscaping. Sometimes electricity and internet costs are also included. The building complex may also provide facilities such as a gym, underground parking and swimming pool.

You can rent a condo in a building complex that doesn’t pay fees for these facilities. The owner will pay them and include them in the rent you pay for the place.
